Currently, 52 students from DTU – Technical University of Denmark are working on a case study on future heat supply in Nexø. The challenge is to find solutions for how electrification, renewable energy, and local co-creation can contribute to a more resilient and sustainable district heating supply on the island – a case defined by Bornholms Energi & Forsyning.
The students came to Bornholm to carry out their fieldwork, interviewing and learning from local stakeholders. They also brought some extra energy and laughter to our office in Rolighedsgade, and we of course gave them a sneak peek at the future residence for Residential College Bornholm – Rønne Old Power Plant. We hope to see them back in this amazing building as energy experts developing solutions for energy islands and contributing to the green transition.
The field trip is part of the course “Innovation in Engineering” and is supported by the European Union and the Danish Board of Business Development.
