We are proud that Bornholm will be the first hybrid energy island, but that does not mean we are on our own. We share the vision of becoming a sustainable green island with the other mayor islands in the Baltic Sea: Gotland, Åland and Saaremaa. We are all entailed in the green transition within Energy Islands Connect.
As part of the Nordplus program, we currently work on the project Nordic Energy Learning Hub fostering hands-on, cross-sectoral learning through virtual site visits, interactive simulations, and real-world case studies from partner islands. By combining technical, societal, and entrepreneurial perspectives, the HUB strengthens capacity for sustainable energy systems and encourages collaboration across regions and sectors.
