The realization of Bornholm Energy Island has entered a new phase. The CEF grant of 645,2 million euro has been handed over by the EU Commision to Denmark and Germany, and Siemens Energy and NKT hold contracts.
Energy Siemens Energy will deliver the core technology for the hybrid HVDC interconnector and NKT will deliver the submarine cables between Bornholm and Sealand.
The Bornholm Energy Island project is led by Energinet (Denmark) and 50Hertz (Germany).
In 2036, offshore wind farms with at least a capacity of three GW will supply households, industry, and critical infrastructure across borders with affordable green energy.
