At the North Sea Summit on January 26, Denmark and Germany took the final steps toward realizing the Bornholm Energy Island. At Baltic Energy Island, we are grateful and more than ready to move forward.
Denmark and Germany have agreed to share the costs of the support needed for offshore wind. The cost distribution reflects a fair balance between the benefits of the project and the expected allocation of green power.
In the coming months, the Danish and German ministers will work closely together to ensure a successful and competitive tender for the offshore wind capacity linked to the Bornholm Energy Island—marking the next major milestone.
At Baltic Energy Island, we are grateful to everyone who has supported us and shared our vision. The Energy Island Forum carries a truly European spirit. It is therefore especially gratifying that the agreement has now been concluded in Hamburg, and that the Bornholm Energy Island is paving the way for closer European cooperation.
We also acknowledge the important work of the Municipality of Bornholm and other local stakeholders. Without the Bornholmere, there would be no Bornholm Energy Island.
