Connecting the countries in the Baltic Sea
Bornholm Energy Island will be the first hybrid energy island in the world. Offshore wind farms of three gigawatts will deliver power to Denmark and Germany via the island of Bornholm.
Bornholm Energy Island is not only central to the green transition. The project also provides cheaper electricity and is a crucial step towards ensuring Danish, German, and European energy independence.
Denmark has been a frontrunner in the green transition. Building on global cooperation we have developed the technologies, implemented them in our energy system and exported them to the rest of the world. Baltic Energy Island will continue this tradition taking us closer to a 100 percent sustainable and data driven energy system.

Final Agreement on the Bornholm Energy Island
At the North Sea Summit on January 26, Denmark and Germany took the final steps toward realizing the Bornholm Energy Island. At Baltic Energy Island, we are grateful and more than ready to move forward. Denmark and Germany have agreed to share the costs of the support needed for offshore

With Peter Weinreich-Jensen and Anne Thomas in the board, Baltic Energy Island is strengthened by both an international perspective and with experience with regional issues, and they share a strong commitment to Bornholm Energy Island.
