Peter Weinreich-Jensen and Anne Thomas are joining the board of the Baltic Energy Island foundation.
With Peter Weinreich-Jensen and Anne Thomas in the board, Baltic Energy Island is strengthened by both an international perspective and with experience with regional issues, and they share a strong commitment to Bornholm Energy Island.
Peter Weinreich-Jensen is Senior Director of Business Development at Siemens Energy. He has more than 30 years of experience in electrification and energy system development and brings specialized expertise in Power-to-X, cable connections for large offshore wind projects, and sector coupling to the board. In addition, Peter Weinreich-Jensen has in-depth knowledge of the technical aspects of Bornholm Energy Island.
Bornholm will become the first energy island to be directly connected to the European transmission infrastructure. This is an important step towards strategic independence and lower electricity cost through affordable, green, and locally rooted energy. I believe that all the valuable work carried out in connection with Bornholm Energy Island should be applied to future energy islands in the Baltic Sea and the North Sea.
I will work to ensure that offshore wind can be connected to multiple countries, enabling all links in the value chain to create value based on sustainable European energy.
Peter Weinreich-Jensen
Anne Thomas is a member of the municipal council in Regional Municipality of Bornholm (Socialdemokratiet). She is Chair of the Environment and Business Committee and is expected to assume the former mayor’s board positions at the Bornholm branch of Erhvervshus Hovedstaden and at Business Center Bornholm. She also has extensive experience in regional business development and the green transition. Anne Thomas holds a degree in engineering.
The energy island is coming – that is a political decision – but how much Bornholm will benefit from it depends on us. Our highest ambition is to use the energy island as a tool for regional business development. At the same time, Bornholm’s business ambition aim to help advance the European green energy agenda
Anne Thomas
Chairman Claus M. Andersen is pleased with the new members of the board.
With the appointment of Peter Weinreich-Jensen, the board gains an international perspective. Peter has extensive knowledge of the energy sector and German business. With Anne Thomas, the board gains an energetic and highly committed profile with a deep understanding of Bornholm’s regional potential. The other board members and I very much look forward to working with both of them.
