The Danish minister for Climate, Energy and Supply Lars Aagaard has announced that Energy Island Bornholm is close to becoming a reality.
The Danish government now allows Energinet to sign an agreement for the establishment of the transmission cables and the transformer station. The cables will send electricity from offshore wind to Denmark and Germany.
Bornholm Energy Island is not only central to the green transition – but also provides cheaper electricity and is a crucial step towards ensuring Danish, German, and European energy independence.
Bornholm will become the world’s first hybrid energy island. In the days to come, we will turn on a lighthouse that will inspire the rest of the world.
